Future vehicle tech, available NOW! Part 1

We're all pretty blessed to live in a time where vehicle manufacturers have pushed the limits of technology to provide us with not only time-saving and ultra-cool features, but those that can improve the safety of both drivers and passengers. If you think airbags are the height of technology, we've got a multiple-part series to introduce you to some of the coolest new vehicle tech. Get ready to feel like you're George Jetson!

We all love our mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets. Most of us can't go a full day without using one of these technological tools! Because of that, our first pick for the coolest "future tech" available now is:
  • Built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspots. General Motors was at the forefront of this technology. With built-in Wi-Fi hotspots, folks on the road can use their phones, tablets and laptops without having to find a McDonalds or Starbucks for free connectivity. Keep the kids happy with streaming services to make roadtrips much more enjoyable. Ask Siri "where's the closest office supply store" to get on-the-fly directions without the added cost of using expensive data plans. It feels overly obvious to state this, but we do recommend leaving the tech use to passengers! Driving while texting, typing or dialing is never a good idea.
Fender benders have always been annoying and costly but with this latest advancement, the likelihood of accidentally running over your trash can while pulling out of your driveway is a lot lower.
  • Multi-view cameras that see everything around your car, not just behind it. Rear-view cameras are becoming commonplace, but forward-thinking companies such as the team that builds the GMC Sierra are going a few steps further. They offer multiple cameras that allow drivers to see views around their vehicle when driving. They're so advanced that on the Sierra, you can even get a camera view that makes a pull-behind trailer look invisible! Mind boggling!
If you're the type of person who would rather risk cutting off the circulation in your arms by hanging all of the grocery sacks on your arm all at once rather than making multiple trips, this feature is for you.
  • Hatchbacks and trunks that automatically open even if your hands are full. What a hassle it can be to open your trunk when you're juggling groceries or beach stuff. Many new vehicles can now pop your trunk or hatch open automatically when it senses that your keyfob is in your pocket. To protect your safety, you can program it ahead of time to know when it should open or stay closed. Some manufacturers even have sensors that allow you to swipe your foot under the rear bumper to open your trunk. Amazing!
As someone who appreciates safety, you'll love this next pick on our list.
  • Windows that auto-clean and repel liquid. This feature is a dream come true, especially for those who struggle to see well during rainstorms. Many manufacturers are producing "hydrophobic" windows that feature coated glass. This glass prevents rain, dirt, and other debris from touching your windows. It's like built-in Rain-X for your ride, without the need to apply it yourself.

If you're a neat freak, you'll appreciate our next list item which makes keeping a clean vehicle a breeze.
  • Built-in vacuums. A Shop-Vac is a staple for those who wish to keep their vehicles immaculate. Some manufacturers include a built-in vacuum with a long range hose!
Welcome to the new future of auto technology and stay tuned for our next list of cool vehicle features to improve your life.
